New York Personal Injury Lawyer from The Perecman Firm Offers Advice on What to Do After an Elevator Accident

According to the New York Daily News, a fitness trainer injured in a New York elevator accident did not report his injuries until the day after the accident.

NEW YORK, NY, January 15, 2012 /Government PR News/ -- A fitness trainer was injured in an elevator accident in his luxury Midtown West apartment building, according to the New York Post (1/6/2012).

In a lawsuit filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, Corey Hill says an elevator he was in went into a free fall before stopping abruptly. Allegedly, Hill suffered neck and back injuries in the New York elevator accident and spent approximately two weeks in the hospital. Now he is "a virtual shut-in" who needs help to get around, reported the New York Daily News (1/6/2012).

Apparently, Hill did not realize he was seriously hurt until the day after the elevator accident when he had trouble walking. He is suing his landlord and two elevator companies who maintain and inspect the building elevators, said the NYDN.

New York personal injury lawyers at The Perecman Firm understand a delay in reporting elevator accident injuries may affect the outcome of a lawsuit.

"If you are in an elevator accident in New York, contact the police and an experienced New York elevator accident lawyer as soon as possible so relevant evidence at the elevator accident scene can be obtained and preserved. A thorough inspection of the elevator accident scene is very important. Photos will need to be taken of the elevator, all of the components and the elevator's control room. If severe injury or death has resulted from the New York elevator accident, qualified experts may be required," explained New York personal injury lawyer Perecman, founder of The Perecman Firm, one of New York's personal injury law firms.
