JPL Helps Educate PA Law Enforcement through New Virtual Training Network

Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association (PCPA) recently launched a virtual training network and on line training courses created in partnership with JPL.

HARRISBURG, PA, January 21, 2012 /Government PR News/ -- In order to improve the accessibility and availability of training, the PA Chiefs of Police Association (PCPA) recently launched a virtual training network and on line training courses created in partnership with JPL. The effort is designed to provide law enforcement professionals access to quality training.

The Pennsylvania Virtual Training Network (PAVTN.net) will provide officers with access to the essential training needed to perform their duties in a complex, ever-changing environment. JPL helped the PCPA brand the network, develop e-learning courses and customize the PAVTN.net learning management system. The Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission (MPOETC) joined PCPA to provide two courses required by Pennsylvania police officers for their annual certification

The initial seven e-learning courses will cover the latest court decisions and new laws that govern police activities, domestic violence issues and booking and fingerprinting procedures. Through the use of audio narration, video, and interactive scenarios, police officers will gain the critical knowledge they need to remain safe and protect the public.

Before PAVTN.net, police officers had to leave their home jurisdictions and travel to central locations to participate in instructor-led courses. PAVTN.net and the e-learning courses will provide convenient access to quality training while reducing travel costs and time away from the job. Three training courses are now offered and additional programs will be added this year.
