Cambridge Who's Who Names Myles Schneider Professional of the Year in Correctional Services

Mr. Schneider rose through the ranks to become a correctional officer

    LAKEWOOD, WA, December 13, 2011 /Government PR News/ -- Myles G. Schneider, Correctional Officer at the Washington Corrections Center for Women, has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Correctional Services. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.

With nearly 29 years of experience in the Department of Corrections as a correctional officer, lead officer, Sergeant at Rap House/Lincoln Park Work Release, Tacoma PreRelease; Mr. Schneider is currently employed at the Washington Corrections Center for Women in Gig Harbor, Washington as a Correctional Officer. He maintained a caseload of inmates at Rap House/Lincoln Park Work Release and Tacoma PreRelease as a temporary Community Corrections Officer. His current duties include serving as a perimeter officer to maintain outside security at the medium and maximum security women's prison.

Mr. Schneider started his corrections career in 1982 at Rap House/Lincoln Park Work Release and advanced to his current position after working at Tacoma PreRelease for over 16 years. He has been working at Washington Corrections Center for Women since April of 2005, and has held his current position since September 2008.

He earned his Master's Degree in Management from the University of Phoenix in 2008 and a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and Ecology at The Evergreen State College in 1977. His interests include historical research for the Pacific Northwest Logging Historical Society. Mr. Schneider is a member of The National WWII Museum in New Orleans, The American Air Museum in Britain, and the Ontario and Western Railway Historical Society. He is a former member, vice president, orchestral manager and trumpeter of the Lakewood Community Orchestra.

A member of Teamster 117 and a former shop Stewart at Tacoma PreRelease. His future goals are to retire and apply his extensive knowledge of corrections to teaching criminal justice and sociology at the University of Phoenix as a professor.
