Los Angeles County Mayor And Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich Has Endorsed Gloria Mercado-Fortine's Bid to Serve Another Term on The Governing Board of The William S. Hart Union High School District.

Mercado-Fortine is asking voters to allow her to continue serving the Santa Clarita Valley's high school district to ensure district accountability, complete modernization projects for all of the district's aging schools

SANTA CLARITA, CA, November 02, 2011 /Government PR News/ -- Mercado-Fortine is asking voters to allow her to continue serving the Santa Clarita Valley's high school district to ensure district accountability, complete modernization projects for all of the district's aging schools, make sure Castaic High School is built as promised, increase technical/vocational and career opportunities for all students, improve the district's responsiveness to parents and the community, and enhance performing and visual arts programs.

"I am thrilled that Mayor Antonovich continues to support me and that he has endorsed my bid to continue serving our high school district," Mercado-Fortine said. "His endorsement is noteworthy because of his past experience as a government and history teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District."

Antonovich, a native of Los Angeles County, has served the 2 million residents of the district since 1980. As a government and history teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District in 1966, Antonovich credits his fifth-grade teacher for the inspiration to enter public life. In 1969, he was elected to the Los Angeles Community College Board of Trustees. Three years later he was elected to serve in the California State Assembly, where he served three terms.
