Pollard, Director of Politics and Human Rights for the Communications Workers of America, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in orchestral conducting and political activism.
As the Director of Politics and Human Rights for the Communications Workers of America, Alfonso M Pollard manages the union's political program, oversees an annual $3.5 million Political Action Committee, interacts daily with Congressional Leadership, many Members of Congress, Governors, political candidates and the active membership of his organization. He also attends and conducts political workshops and meetings, and organizes and supervises labor political campaigns. In his political career,
Mr. Pollard is most noted for his extensive legislative work over the past 15 years. He became involved in his political profession after receiving a fellowship from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities in 1988, and serving as the National Legislative Director for the American Federation of Musicians. Mr. Pollard was a professional orchestral conductor and performing musician for more than 30 years. He attributes his success to his professional training, tenacity, and his ability to keep people organized and motivated.
Mr. Pollard received his Bachelor of Music Degree from the Juilliard School and his Master of Music from the Catholic University of America. He is a former member of the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada.
